IMAGINE: The Industrial Revolution
Sounds of machines, steam engines, iron production, locomotives on railways, ships, coal mining, social and economic changes. Pump up the volume and experience Night shift:
The Industrial Revolution
defined by Mike Checkum and Floe.
** CAUTION : CONTAINS EXTREME BASS **
We have personally selected a list of songs to make up a set of episodes. The idea of our wedding night is old hollywood glamour with a modern twist. We’ve added the elements of jazz, soul and latin music in our selection.
This is the beginning of our story – Mike Checkum & Floe
We realized that each and everytime we sit back to unwind on a busy day and decided to pick on classic soul music as our genre of the day, it never fails to inspire us. It’s always the lyrics, always the arrangement; it’s always the passion but most of it all, it is always refreshing. No matter how many times you come back to it. Maybe it’s just us, we are nostalgic like that. Call us old-fashioned, call us ancient but to us old is gold.
SEN·SU·OUS adj ˈsen(t)-sh(ə-)wəs’

Midnight Sun mixtape brings you the beautifully intricate sounds of jazz mixed together with soulful vibes. Just like the sun bringing colors in the antartic summer nights, this mixtape will paint colors in your ears.
With “Songs From the Soul 3″, I hope to share memories from way back then. The classics have never failed to move my spirit in good times and bad times. It has taught me everything I need to know about love; how you treat a woman, how to love her right, what to do during courtship, what heartbreak feels like. I hope Songs From The Soul 3 will touch you and bring the memories the way it has for me. Spread the Love!
Happy New Year to everyone! We’ll make this year extra awesome, with lots of Love and Soul Music. Starting you guys off with this 4-track mini-mix, as an bonus track on “Brownsugar – The Birth Of Us” mixtape. Anyone can fall in love. They can also fall out of love as easy. One should grow in love like a tree that grows. Takes root, it grows many branches, it takes on many leaves for nourishment. It grows branches and a trunk for strength. It gets stronger with age. For if heavy winds push it over and leaves it to decay, its roots are strong enough to grow another tree.
Burning Rubber Slowjams is one of my first slowjam mixtapes I ever made (1999). In fact the original title was Burning Rubber volume 3, but I lost the other mixes through the years. So enjoy the sexy music and naughty lyrics.
This one is dedicated to all the bass lovers. The sound of bass is one of my favorite sounds. There is so much power in low frequency tones, especially in electronic bass sounds like the 808 basskick or a sine wave. You can feel it all over your body when you give it the right volume. Use a subwoofer for even more action. I just love that feeling.
Dedicated to all Bass lovers.
Hot slowjams from the early beginning of New Jack Swing and R&B. Classic jams like “I’ll Give All My Love To You”, “Superwoman” and “Let’s Chill”. Enjoy… Keith Sweat – I’ll Give All My Love To You (remix) Guy – Let’s Chill Karyn White – Super Woman Hi Five – I Can’t Wait Another Minute more »
Another lost track. The “Independent Woman” remix with . Made this track as an outro for “Wrekonize Party Blends” mixtape back in 2000. For some reason the CD got damaged from this track and I’d lost the track. I found it back on an old Hard Disk of an old friend, who had made a backup, a few weeks before my pc crashed. Which was also 10 years ago … You better enjoy it!
This is a mixtape of love.. (Like Hugh Masekela sings on “We Are One”) A mixtape of peace, hope and faith. We need each other in our lifes. That’s why we need to learn to live together. Together as one big family… We are one!! Wake up!! Life is short. The Time is NOW !!
This is a selection of music I grew up with. I enjoyed this music before the CD-player was invented and even before the word Walkman was introduced. When I listen to these songs I experience the peaceful vibes from my young years again. There was no music channel on TV yet. All we had was “AVRO’s Top Pop” on a weekly base. This is the music I grew up with in the late 70ies until the early 80ies, just before I discovered “The Soul Show” on the Radio.
This is the mixtape where I’d spend the most time in creating it. All separate tracks are build from and acapella on one or more instrumentals or beats. Blends or Mash-up’s. After blending 40 or 50 tracks, I mixed them all together and after that I remixed it all and put some special effects in it, like shout’s and jingles. i created this mixtape in 2000 and it took me over 4 or 5 months to finish it.
It’s about balancing between tender, peaceful vibes and the hard reality where stress and pressure are just common factors. Intense mood swings in a world that’s surrounded by soul music.
By many requests I finally dropped another Old School Slowjam mixtape. This time I focused on the mid 2000′s. Most tracks are about unfaithfulness, break ups and anger within a relationship. We’ve all been there, through the hardships, heartaches, breaking ups and getting over it. When you look back you remember that period and let’s hope we’ve all learned from it and grew stronger because of it. I hope you don’t see these experiences as purely negative ones. Sometimes it’s just a part of life and you have to go through this to be a better, more grounded and solid person.
I want to bring you back to the soul music sound of the sixties and seventies. And there are a few artists from the early eighties which I want to include. I just need to reach out, and spread it all over the world because these timeless songs are too big to keep for myself.
Reflections of my life… how they fill my eyes …
This is one of my very personal mixes I just needed. During this period I just had to slow down and reflect my whole life because I just couldn’t and wouldn’t go on like I always did before.
Fall has begun. The aftermath of the joyous, boundless and free summer. Celebrate the beautiful coloured leaves in all shades of gold and brown, the rainy nights under the blankets and the soulful blues.
Café Central is probably the best known Jazz club in Madrid. Popular in the day when you can have a coffee, but really comes to life at 10 p.m. when the live performances start. You can order drinks food and complete meals, during the concert. The stage is so nearby, you could reach the piano. The music really touches you. Jazz, hard-bop, horns. And the service is great.
When dealing with daily life, mood swings are not unusual. Sensitive people have an internal empathy dial that is turned on high all the time. They pick up the vibe, the moods and emotions of the individuals around them. They can have mood swings that are immediately sensible. This mixtape represents the moods of sensitive people and their perspective of the world. I hope you enjoy it.
I wish i could find a ways to convert the energy in music and sound to electricity. Then I could really warm up my place with music or cool it down. I would be great if the music would lighten the place with exact the appropriate light. This mixtape is full of energy. I hope it will cause some electricity inside you. Enjoy!
The Sunset mixtape stands for stopping with what we’re doing and prepare ourselves for the evening and eventually the night. But before the evening starts, enjoy the beautiful red and purple sky until the Sun disappears below the horizon.
Brownsugar Spring edition (The Rebirth of Brownsugar). This is the first Brownsugar mixtape after a 2 years break. It’s also a try-out project to collaborate with friend DJ’s to make an Brownsugar mixtape and the result is great. Enjoy the Spring Edition of Brownsugar, mixed by DJ Chippie, The Soulbrotha and Me.
Old school jams from the early 70ies inspired a lot of great artists. Many Neosoul tracks has the same simular sound and vibe. It’s funny that the original sound doesn’t seem so old, but it’s at least 30 years old.
Sugarfree mixtape is a blend of Deephouse and Soulful House music. Just imagine, Summer, Sun, See, Beaches, Bikini’s, Cocktails and the sweat Deep Soulful House sounds.
